The Downey Dog Obedience Group has been in existence, holding obedience training classes in the City of Downey, for over 50 years.
As a non-profit, community-based organization we offer low cost obedience classes as a public service, and give substantial discounts to dogs adopted from animal shelters.
But we are much more than that. Our membership is made up of obedience enthusiasists and dog lovers who have a wealth of accumulated knowledge; we can help you with obedience training and many other dog related issues.
Our trainers have many years of actual experience training and exhibiting dogs. For us dog training is a hobby and a passion.
The Downey Dog Obedience Group is a member of the Southern California Dog Obedience Council, is a major sponsor of Downey's Kid's Day and a Downey Street Faire Participant.
We hold monthly meetings, train our own dogs for obedience, rally, agility and conformation competition, and hold an annual obedience match in July that is attended by dog obedience exhibitors from all over Southern California. Many of our dogs are also Therapy Dogs.
We invite you to become acquainted with our activities and we welcome your interest in our club.
Every year we are one of the largest, if not THE largest, monetary sponsor of Downey Kid's Day.
In 2015 we are donating the funds to purchas a protective vest for Dash, one of Downey's police dogs. Photos will be added when the vest arrives!
